Universidade Federal do Paraná (UFPR), established in 1912, is a symbol of Curitiba, the capital city of the state of Paraná. It is one of the top ten Brazilian universities by any standard and ranks among the 25 most prestigious in Latin America. UFPR is deeply committed to education, science, technology, innovation, culture, and citizenship for the benefit of the people of Paraná.

UFPR is a comprehensive public institution of higher education, financed in part by the federal budget, especially at the undergraduate level, as well as through federal and state research agencies and partnerships with public and private industries at the graduate level, research, and community engagement.

The university is present in Curitiba, with five campuses, and in five cities across distinct regions of Paraná. It comprises 14 academic units responsible for undergraduate and graduate degrees, as well as diverse professional training programs, including medical, multi-health professional, and veterinary residency programs.

Faculty and staff at UFPR are among the most distinguished, with 2,450 tenure-holding professors, 70% of whom hold a doctoral degree. Our scientists publish over 15,000 scientific products annually and are responsible for more than 395 pending patents.

Opportunities

Education at UFPR focuses on both theory and practical skills. Students gain experiences that will help them in their future professional lives. Several evaluations rank UFPR as the best for market placement in the pursuit of a career.

Laboratories, both in-house and in partnership, are available to students of all schools. In human health sciences, the university operates one general hospital and one maternity hospital, as well as one health promotion unit. It also has partnerships with state and municipal government health hospitals and various experimental farms for animal care, welfare, handling, and development.

Medical Care

UFPR students may access basic medical care in the areas of dentistry, gynecology, psychiatry, and medical clinics at any time during the academic year.

Sports Activities

UFPR encourages sports and leisure activities. Students are invited to participate in sports teams that represent UFPR in university competitions. At the beginning of each academic term, the best athletes are selected to join our sports teams.

Portuguese as a Foreign Language

UFPR hosts a Center for Language and Interculturalism (CELIN), which offers Portuguese as a foreign language in modules of 90 hours each, ranging from basic to advanced levels.

Integration of International Students

INTEGRATE UFPR is a project dedicated to improving the hosting of international students. It comprises four lines of action: SUPPORT, INCLUDE, HOST, and LODGE.

Lodging: Both the outer and inner communities of UFPR offer lodging to exchange students at a charge.

Support: Local student volunteers, selected by the project coordinator, serve as mentors to exchange students from the moment they arrive. They assist with tasks ranging from opening a bank account to choosing housing and providing academic support.

Inclusion: Student monitors organize meetings with undergraduate and graduate exchange students at different UFPR campuses to foster inclusion.
