Em 1853, o governo da prov\u00edncia decidiu estudar os melhores caminhos para atravessar a serra. Sua atua\u00e7\u00e3o foi muito importante para a constru\u00e7\u00e3o da estrada e para a hist\u00f3ria do Paran\u00e1.<br>A Estrada da Graciosa teve grande impacto no crescimento econ\u00f4mico do estado, principalmente no transporte da erva-mate. Com a conclus\u00e3o da estrada, na d\u00e9cada de 1870, ficou mais f\u00e1cil transportar mercadorias entre o litoral e Curitiba, fortalecendo o com\u00e9rcio e a ind\u00fastria da regi\u00e3o. Por isso, a estrada n\u00e3o deve ser vista apenas como uma paisagem bonita ou atra\u00e7\u00e3o tur\u00edstica. Ela tamb\u00e9m representa uma importante obra de engenharia, criada para superar os desafios da Serra do Mar e melhorar a circula\u00e7\u00e3o de pessoas e produtos no Paran\u00e1.<br>Para o MAFRO, destacar a participa\u00e7\u00e3o de Ant\u00f4nio Rebou\u00e7as \u00e9 importante porque ajuda a mostrar <strong>a presen\u00e7a negra na hist\u00f3ria da engenharia<\/strong> e das grandes obras do estado, algo que muitas vezes foi pouco reconhecido.
